HOW SAFE ARE YOU WHILE ON UNPROTECTED WIFI

Has it ever occured to you that banking particulars may be phished when transacting an online banking transaction?Well, the probability is
high because of the vulnerabilities of Majority of web browsers and also the vulnerability found on
some mobile banking apps.

Well two guys decided to experiment on how your info can
be phished and be used resulting to financial drainage. One of the guys logged onto a free wifi (unsecured) and proceeded into logging into his
banking site and entered his sensitive banking particulars.(risky, huh)
The other guy on the other hand (a
hacker) was monitoring the guy's activity on another laptop. In real time, the hacker had intercepted the logon info and could use it to his
merit.Thats why its not advisable to be on unsecured wifi as a third party could be eavesdropping on your communication with the server.
Thats why i prefer mobile banking. In online banking, you are not sure if you are secure from certified black hats.In addition to that, your browser may be communicating to a man-in-the-middle(MITM attacks)
So what happens to the information that is stolen?Sometimes the information phished may be sold to other schemes in place to continue
with the vice.(like the nigerian 419 scams).A phishing site has a lifespan of 5 days. After that all the anti-phishing mechanisms
start wiping out all the rogue sites.
While transacting online, make sure there is a real time secure connection.(usually indicated by a 'padlock' on the top right corner of your webpage.
    The moment you are
online, you cannot doubt the existence of black hats.

  Stay secure
