Late last year structures along the road were demolished to pave way for the construction of a modern building which could serve the traders in the open air market who had suffered the adverse weather conditions under which they operated.
Traders and the local residents cheered up to the visioned
plan and co-operated with the authorities to
realise the goal. This would see the complete structure develop into a market stall which could prove to be a cash cow to the county government through the realisation of income tax for more development of the area.
One year after,the picture
(ABOVE) presents the present situation of the
building to be.It all started well after two
weeks of demolishing.Contractors were seen
everywhere..workers e.t.c.Then in the middle
of the year everything came to a halt.No
construction continuing.No workersI managed
to ask one of the workers and he said they
were told they would be given notice when
they would be required again.Later there
were hearsays that money meant for the
construction had been embezzled.Upto date no
words from the relevant authorities and the
traders continue operating under the adverse
conditions.
